What is Providers’ eAcademy®?

Providers’ eAcademy® is an online Learning Management System (LMS) designed to advance professional development in the human services sector. Agencies enrolled in Providers’ eAcademy® have access to hundreds of professional level courses covering a wide range of topics, many of them with Continuing Education Units (CEUs). In addition to these professional courses, Providers’ eAcademy® hosts the Human Services Credentialing Program of the Providers’ Council. Providers’ eAcademy® is currently available to Provider Members of Providers’ Council.

What is the Providers' Council Credentialing Program?

The Credentialing Program is aimed at those coming into the human services workforce in entry-level positions. Twelve core competency areas were defined and curriculum was developed that addresses the specific needs of the Massachusetts provider community. Agencies enrolled in Providers’ eAcademy® have access to all the credentialing courses at no extra charge.

Currently, Providers’ eAcademy® offers five Human Service Credentials in: Developmental Disabilities/ Mental Retardation, Child Welfare and most recently, Leadership & Frontline Supervision, Mental Health and Public Health: Substance Abuse & Addictions. Tier 2 levels for Developmental Disabilities/ Mental Retardation and Child Welfare are underway and will be launched in the coming months.

What is the advantage of doing training online?

For the agency:

  • Cost-effectively educate, train, and manage professional development for all employees.
  • Reduce cost for travel and shift coverage.
  • Provide easily accessible reports for accreditation, licensing, internal review, etc.

For the employee:

  • Learn at your own pace – stop and start a course as needed.
  • Become confident of the material – being able to review it as needed.
  • Learn in a ‘pressure-free’ environment and take tests when ready.

For the trainer:

  • All training records – even classroom – are easily kept and managed in one database.
  • The system sends reminders to employees and can notify supervisors of an individual's progress; trainers and supervisors will be able to easily identify employees in need of extra assistance.
  • Courses can be automatically reassigned at regular intervals.
  • Trainers can reallocate their time to develop new courses and expand their training programs.
