Group Planning and Decision Making

Through the use of a human services-based simulation and exercises, participants will
explore barriers and levers for effective planning and decision making in the workplace.
The exercises provide opportunity to practice planning and decision techniques and to
practice good meeting management principles.

OBJECTIVES

At completion of this module participants will be able to:

• Describe an effective approach to planning in human service organizations

• Identify five types of workplace decisions and the best situations in which to use each

• Use a Decision Chart to clarify the level of staff input to various types of decisions

• Apply a variety of meeting management techniques to ensure productive meetings

• Link key learning from the entire series to their everyday practice as supervisors.
