Situational Leadership for the Supervisor
Each of us has a natural preference that determines our style of leadership. We demonstrate this style in situations on a daily basis as we lead and supervise our staff. What happens when our natural preferred style does not work? Our preferred style of leading may not be the most effective way to deal with every situation. How do we adjust our style to different situations that we encounter in our jobs?
This workshop will provide learners with an understanding of what comes natural to them in terms of leadership, its strengths as well as its areas for development. Facilitators will present a model that addresses supervision in terms of employee skill level and commitment. Using case studies, brief lectures, skills practices, and a model for dealing with difficult situations, participants will demonstrate how to adjust their style to meet the needs of individual staff members when their natural preference is not the best fit. Participants will not only be made aware that flexibility is important, but will also have the opportunity to demonstrate adjusting their leadership style in “real work” situations in this highly informative and engaging workshop.
