Certificate In Nonprofit Administration and Finance Program

Registration is open to Providers’ Council members and nonmember nonprofit organizations. Previous restriction to payers to the state unemployment insurance pool does not apply. Laptop computers are also not required.

The Certificate in Nonprofit Administration and Finance Program, the second joint project between the Providers' Council and Suffolk University, is modeled after the successful Certificate in Community Human Service Management Program. More than 100 future leaders in the human service provider community have graduated from the management program and by this summer more than 40 will have graduated from the first two years of the Certificate in Nonprofit Administration and Finance.

This innovative year-long, graduate-level certificate program is designed to professionalize administration and finance positions in nonprofit organizations by recognizing the complex and challenging set of skills that are necessary to carry out the work effectively. This program is for nonprofit agency staff working in administration and finance capacities, including human resource positions. Current participants include project managers, office managers, executive directors, program managers and staff accountants. The program is designed to provide academic training for those who may not have already received formal education specific to administration and finance responsibilities in a nonprofit organization. The program prepares participants for career growth opportunities and creates a professional network among those who participate. This program is designed for mid-career employees who desire skill sets essential to administration and finance positions and who are looking for flexible, low-cost graduate level education.

The program will be held at Suffolk University in Boston, with 25 full days of class on Fridays.

The Certificate in Nonprofit Administration and Finance Program will provide training in the following:
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Management Information Systems
  • Grants and Contracts Management
  • Management of information Systems
  • Operations Management
  • Human Resources
  • Strategic Management/Capstone
